Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, met here today Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Al-Taib of Al-Azhar. During his meeting with Sheikh Al-Azhar, Prince Sultan affirmed that Al-Azhar is a religious ancient institution and plays an important role in the Islamic world religiously and culturally, stressing that the Kingdom is keen to support Al-Azhar in various phases. For his part, Sheikh Al-Taib welcomed Prince Sultan who visited Al-Azhar and inspected restoration works in Al-Azhar Grand Mosque, confirming a depth of historic relations binding the two countries. He lauded a great role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in supporting the Arab and Islamic issues. The President of Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage has toured and inspected the restoration ongoing works, at the expense of the Kingdom, in Al-Azhar Grand Mosque. The meeting was attended by Ahmad Qattan, Saudi ambassador to Egypt.
