Presided over by the Minister of Culture and Information of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad, the executive office of the Arab Information Ministers Council affirmed the necessity of enhancing media efforts in combating terrorism through activating the interim plan to achieve the objectives of the Arab joint media strategy for combating terrorism. During its 8th session held in Cairo, the executive office issued a number of recommendations, calling upon the media outlets and the concerned authorities in the media to focus on what is happening in the Palestinian territories in order to highlight real practices of the occupying state and crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian journalists and media institutions in addition to its violations of laws and international legislation. The meeting stressed the centrality of the Palestinian cause for the Arab nation and confirmation of the Arab identity of Al-Quds as capital for the Palestinian state. In recommendations to be submitted to the 49th Arab Information Ministers Council to be held next May, the meeting assigned the Arab League's missions abroad, in particular the media committee, to communicate with various media outlets to highlight the Israeli violations in the Arab occupied territories against journalists and media institutions. The executive office called upon the Arab States Broadcasting Union and Federation of the Arab News Agencies to intensify news with regard to Al-Quds and practices of the occupation state through news exchange with the European, African and Asian states. The meeting recommended approval of a general framework of the proposed media campaign for the Arab World Map for Sustainable Development 2030. The meeting recommended the acceptance of a request submitted by the Republic of Iraq to launch the Arab media monitor for terrorism. The executive office called on highlighting the interim plan with regard to objectives of the Arab joint media strategy for combating terrorism. With regard to rights of TV broadcast for sports events and championships, the meeting issued a recommendation that it is the right of all Arab citizens to watch the Arab, national and international sports events, where national teams or elements are participating, through an open and unencrypted signal, regardless of whether who owns these events.
