Executive Office of the Arab Environment Ministers Calls to Follow-up Impact of Dimona Israeli Reactor and Bushehr Iranian Reactor on the Arab environment
The Executive Office of the Arab Environment Ministers Council began here today its 54th meeting. The meeting is presided over by Eng. Abdurrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli, Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, in participation of Kuwait, Jordan, Libya, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco and Mauritania representatives, as well as the General Secretariat of the Arab League. Eng. Al-Fadhli, who is also chairman of the executive office, welcomed the participants, stressing the importance of the issues to be discussed by the office with a view to hold the 23th Arab Environment Ministers Council tomorrow. During the meeting, the executive office called upon the Arab Atomic Energy Authority (AAEA) to provide the council with a report on recent assignments, including a completion of relevant studies on the impact of Dimona Israeli Reactor and Bushehr Iranian Reactor on the Arab environment in addition to monitoring process of radioactive contamination on border areas with Israel. The executive office also discussed draft resolutions to be discussed by the ministerial council tomorrow in addition to follow-up implementation of the sustainable development aims 2030 in the Arab Region. The office invited the Arab environment ministries to take part in 2018 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development to be held in New York.
