The Arab standardization and consumer forum, organized by Sudan Standardization authority in collaboration with the Arab League and the Arab Industrial and Mining Development Organization, started in Khartoum today in the presence of the Saudi ambassador to Sudan Ali bin Hasan Jaafar, the Assistant Secretary General of the AL Dr. Kamal Hasan Ali, the Chairman of the Arab Union for Consumers Dr. Mohammed Abeedat, the Regional Chairman for the International Federation of Consumers in the Middle East Justin McMillon, the Director of the Arab Industrial and Mining Development Organization Adel Saqr and Secretary General of the Islamic Institute for Standardization Ihsan Oft. Addressing the gathering, General Bakri Hasan Saleh, Sudan's First Vice President and Prime Minister, said the recently-announced lifting of U.S. sanction would pave the way for Sudan to join the WTO, pledging to implement the recommendations of the forum in terms of what lies in the side of Sudan standardization and consumer protection.
