The United States of America lifted here today the economic sanctions imposed on Sudan. "This decision was a recognition of the positive measures taken by the Government of the Sudan to maintain a cessation of hostilities in the conflict zones of Sudan and to emoliorate humanitarian assistance to reach all parts of Sudan and to maintain cooperation with the United States in addressing regional conflicts and the threat of terrorism," State Department spokeswoman Heather Noiret said in a press release. "This decision will come into force on October 12, 2017, she said, noting that this action came through a 16-month intensive diplomatic efforts to make progress with Sudan in key areas, she concluded.
