The Secretary-General of Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL) Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa held a meeting with the President of the Pontifical Council of the Vatican Jean-Louis Pierre Tauran, at the Vatican here today. During the meeting, the two sides discussed establishment of a permanent liaison committee between the Vatican and MWL. Cardinal Tauran welcomed the visit of Dr. Al-Issa and the accompanying delegation, praising the meeting he held with the Pope and opening a new page of friendship and cooperation between the Vatican and MWL to meet the challenges and dangers facing the world today. For his part, Dr. Al-Issa expressed appreciation of the role of the Pontifical Council for aiming to promote co-existence, understanding and cooperation among peoples. He noted the meeting held with the Pope and the fair and just positions he expressed against the false claims that link extremism and terrorism to the religion of Islam, stressing that the MWL welcomes the cooperation with the Vatican through the Pontifical Council in all aspects, to achieve common goals, especially the spread of peace and harmony, all over the world.
