The Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Kitack Lim and accompanying delegation visited Jeddah Islamic Port today, as part of participation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebration of the World Maritime Day, which started here and will continue through to Sunday 24 September 2017, under the slogan of the Ports and the People. During the visit, Lim met with a number of senior officials, including Transport Minister Sulaiman Al-Hamdan, Head of Public Transport Authority Dr. Rumih Al-Rumaih, Head of the General Ports Authority Dr. Nabil Al-Amoudi and Head of the Border Guard Lieutenant General Awad Al-Balawi. The visit included several briefings on the marine environment in the Kingdom, a field trip to Mohammed bin Nayef Academy for Marine Security Studies, Jeddah Islamic Port Facilities, Maritime Control Tower, the Search and Rescue Coordinating Center and the Maritime Border Patrol Force and Cruise.
