Arab Gulf Development Program (AGFUND) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) in Geneva signed here today a memorandum of understanding and cooperation on financial inclusion to achieve the Sustainable Development Plan for 2030. This came during the first day of the 5th AGFUND Development Forum, which will be held for three days under the patronage of Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of AGFUND, in the presence of development partners and the media. The agreement was signed by AGFUND, represented by its Executive Director Nasser Al-Qahtani and UNITAR by United Nations Assistant Secretary-General, Executive Director of UNITAR Nikhil Seth, . The memorandum of understanding aims at providing a collaborative framework whereby its Parties can develop and carry out activities, as well as using existing resources for beneficiaries of activities, including the development of technical and training assistance, holding conferences and workshops, and the development of technical cooperation and knowledge resources such as reports and research in addition to the concentration on financial integration of the African region and the provision of financial services such as credit, payments and mortgage at affordable costs to disadvantaged populations as a tool for poverty reduction in Africa within the framework of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan.
