Asian markets were mostly lower Monday, AP reported. The Shanghai Composite Index shed 0.1 percent to 3,232.84 while Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.6 percent to 24,452.51. Seoul's Kospi lost 0.5 percent to 2,153.81 and Sydney's S&P-ASX 200 lost 0.4 percent to 5,778.90. India's Sensex retreated 0.5 percent to 29,512.36 and benchmarks in Bangkok also fell. New Zealand and Jakarta gained. The dollar weakened to 112.55 yen from Friday's 112.59 yen. The euro strengthened to $1.0764 from $1.0747. Benchmark U.S. crude declined 43 cents to $48.35 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract gained 3 cents on Friday to close at $48.78. Brent crude, used to price international oils, lost 33 cents to $51.43 in London. It added 2 cents the previous session to $51.76.
