Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yusuf bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, expressed deep regret at the withdrawal of the report of the United Nations' Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), concluded with an objective truth about Israel's existing policy of occupation, oppression, colonization and reenacting apartheid policies, in the Palestinian occupied territories. The Secretary-General stressed that the withdrawal of the United Nations report on Israel policies and practices against the Palestinian people and the question of apartheid-like acts, would be counterproductive and would deprive the international community of access to the conclusions of this objective and professional document. It would also encourage Israel to continue its policies of apartheid, calling on the United Nations and the international community to take necessary measures to put an end to the policies of Israel's racism, continuing abuses of international law and relevant resolutions of the United Nations. Othaimeen also expressed regret at the resignation of Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia Rima Khalaf, praising the professional, balanced performance and good conclusions reached, which were in full conformity with the United Nations and the principles of its Charter, he concluded.
