Permanent Saudi delegation to the United Nations hosted here during the period from February 27 to March 2, 2017 a high-level delegation of military experts in the Alliance Forces to restore legitimacy in Yemen, headed by Maj. Gen. Misfer Al-Ghanem. A press statement issued by the Saudi delegation said that military experts held, in the presence of Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Mouallimi, a number of meetings with representatives of Member States of the United Nations that are involved in the Alliance, experts from the Security Council, a number of United Nations officials and representatives of international humanitarian organizations. The meetings were attended by Director of Coordination and Response Division of United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) John Ging, representatives of organizations, UNICEF, UNDP and the United Nations, the Red Cross, the United Nations Environment Program, the United Nations Population Fund, the United Nations Department of Safety and Security, the World Bank, and the World Food Program. Also, the Delegation held here a special meeting with members of the Saudi Permanent delegation. The statement pointed out that the meetings focused on highlighting the facts of the objectives of the Alliance to restore legitimacy in Yemen, led by President Abd Rabuh Mansur Hadi, supporting security and stability in Yemen, combating terrorism in Yemen and the region, achievements of "Storm Determination" and "Renewal of Hope" operations. According to the statement, the experts provided a briefing about alliance operations, commitment of the alliance forces to international humanitarian law as well as alliance's efforts in the evacuation and humanitarian operations, and violations of the coup militias of Houthis and ousted Saleh to Security Council resolution (2216) and Security Council resolutions relevant to international humanitarian law, breaching of the armistice agreements, damages caused by coup militias by targeting the civilians and civil facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, violations of the coup militias of the laws of armed conflict, use of children and civilians as human shields and recruiting them to involve in military operations, and killing and arresting the opposition members in Yemen by coup militia. The delegation also explained during the meeting efforts of Commission of Evacuation and Humanitarian Operations and King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, in coordination with the Command of alliance forces, the legitimate government and humanitarian and UN institutions to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people in all regions of Yemen, even those who are under the control of coup militias, treatment of the wounded and transferring of them for medical treatment abroad. The delegation held a press conference where Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Mouallimi stressed that the visit aims to convey necessary information to members of the Security Council, officials of the United Nations and international humanitarian organizations, and to clarify the alliance list of targets which are; support the Yemeni people to restore legitimacy in Yemen, securing the southern border Saudi Arabia, preventing Iranian interference in the region and the elimination of terrorist groups.
