Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yusuf Ahmed Al-Othaimeen emphasized that the Organization has sought to cooperate with the authorities in Myanmar at various levels, and called on them to adopt a transparent policy and justice towards ethnic and religious minorities, stressing that the Government of Myanmar has to take the necessary and practical measures and plans to enable the Rohingya Muslims to reclaim their citizenship and prevent the continuation of discrimination, violence and the wave of unjustified transgressions against them. This came in a speech delivered here today by the OIC Chief during the opening ceremony of the extraordinary session of the OIC's Council of Foreign Ministers on the status of the minority of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, in the presence of Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak. At the outset of his speech, Dr. Al-Othaimeen expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Government of Malaysia for its good initiative for holding the meeting and hosting this special session. --More
