In cooperation with a number of local international agencies along with researchers from different countries, the Fossil Unit Team affiliated to Saudi Geological Survey has discovered a tusk of extinct species of elephants with a length of 225 centimeters in Al-Nafud northwestern desert in the Kingdom. President of the Saudi Geological Survey, Dr. Zuhair bin Abdul Hafeez Nawab said that the discovered fossil is one of rare specimens with excellent preservation containing information about the geological history, ancient environments and climate in the Arabian Peninsula.
