Three students and five staff, including a Turkish national, have been abducted from an international school in Nigeria, police and the school's management said Saturday according to dpa. "They were abducted late Friday night at the school's premises" outside Lagos, said Abimbola Oyeyemi, police spokesman for south-western Ogun State. The kidnappers were believed to have gained entrance by digging underneath the rear fence, Tulip International School's principal Yumus Emre Dogan told journalists." "Upon hearing the security alarm activated and sighting our security personnel, the armed invaders opened fire on the security staff and managed to escape," the school said in a statement. No injuries were reported. The abductees were three female supervisors, a female cook, a female teacher and three students, the school said. The teacher was Turkish, but the nationalities of the others were not given. The school's students and staff are mainly Turkish and Nigerians. No group has claimed responsibility for the abductions.
