The Islamic Conference of Ministers of Information of Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) member states kicked off the activities of its 11th session entitled "Renewed Media Role in Countering Terrorism and Islamophobia" chaired by the Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel bin Zaid Altoraifi and the presence of OIC Secretary General Dr. Yusuf bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen and OIC Ministers of Information here today. At the outset of the opening session, Dr. Altoraifi welcomed, on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the ministers and heads of delegations participating in the works of the session in their second country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He pointed out that holding the 11th session of the Islamic Conference of OIC Ministers of Information under the theme "Renewed Role of Media In Countering Terrorism and Islamophobia" comes at an important regional and international circumstances shadowing the Islamic world, as happening in the crises being experienced by our brothers in Syria, Iraq and others. Dr. Altoraifi said that these crises being witnessed by Muslim world calls for concerted efforts and ranks unification to achieve aspirations of our peoples and the good for them, noting that the current session would be a starting point towards the discussion and the issuance of an Islamic media charter pertaining to the fight against the two phenomena of terrorism and Islamophobia. --More
