The European Union (EU) announced, in a statement, here today the appointment of Italian diplomat Michele Cervone D'Urso, as the head of its mission, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A statement issued by the EU External Action Authority said that the High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union Federica Mogherini appointed Michele Cervone D'Urso as the Head of the EU Delegation, in the Kingdom, adding that the appointment was part of a new movement of appointments included eight leading positions, in the External Action Service. D'Urso, who is a senior staff, at the European External Action Department, has served as EU envoy for Somalia, the head of the European mission, in Somalia and as the head of the EU mission, in Yemen.
