South Africa's Sundowns on Sunday won their first African Champions League title despite conceding a 1-0 defeat by Zamalek of Egypt in the second leg of the final in the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria, according to dpa. The South African squad won 3-1 on aggregate after thrashing Zamalek 3-0 in their first leg in Pretoria last week. With this win, the Sundowns secure a place in the FIFA Club World Cup due in Japan in December. The sole goal in Sunday's encounter was scored by Zamalek's Nigerian striker Stanly Ohawuchi in the 64th minute. The guests' solid defence blocked the home team's further attempts to score. Zamalek, one of Egypt's top squads, previously won the African Champions League five times. The last was in 2002.
