Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of topics and issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Sharq, Al-Riyadh, Al-Youm and Okaz newspapers commented on JASTA, stressing that this Act came to weaken the immunity of the world guaranteed by the United Nations. Under the title "JASTA and Weakening of Sovereign Immunity," Al-Sharq wrote that the Saudi Council of Ministers confirmed yesterday in its weekly regular session that the US Congress' approval of JASTA is a source of concern to the international community in which relations are based on the principle of equality and sovereign immunity, as this law came to weaken the immunity of the world guaranteed by the United Nations, its agencies and councils which were formed to preserve the legal sovereignty of all its member countries across the universe. Okaz newspaper stressed that the adoption of this law would damage international interests with the United States of America as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the world's most severely affected country by terrorism, which has greatly impacted the Saudi home, and the Kingdom was the first warrior of this terrorism.
