Computers at the election office for Democrats in the US Congress were hacked, the group said Friday, just days after it became public that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) had fallen victim to a similar cyberattack, according to dpa. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), which aids lawmakers in their election campaigns, said the incident was being investigated and was "similar to other recent incidents, including the DNC breach." "The DCCC takes this matter very seriously," spokeswoman Meredith Kelly said. "With the assistance of leading experts we have taken and are continuing to take steps to enhance the security of our network in the face of these recent events." The website WikiLeaks last week published some 20,000 Democratic party emails that exposed apparent favouritism for Hillary Clinton over rival Bernie Sanders by party officials during its presidential primaries. The revelations led to the resignation of party chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. The Clinton campaign and outside computer analysts have pinned the hacking on Russia, but the US government has yet to weigh in publicly and Moscow has denied the allegation.
