American Kendra Harrison, who failed to qualify for the upcoming Olympics, on Friday bettered the 28-year-old world record in the women's 100 metres hurdles at the London Diamond League meet, dpa reported. Harrison clocked 12.20 seconds, taking one hundredth of a second off the mark of 12.21 set in August 1988 by Bulgaria's Yordanka Donkova. Harrison's previous best was 12.24 seconds at the Eugene meet two months ago but she then failed to make the top three at the American Olympic trials which keeps here out of the August 5-21 Games in Rio de Janeiro. The Anniversary Games meet in London was also to feature Jamaican sprint superstar Usain Bolt later Friday in the 200m, his first race since withdrawing from the Olympic trials in early June with a hamstring injury.
