US President Barack Obama acknowledges that progress has been made in race relations in the United States, but "we know that bias remains." At a memorial for five police officers killed in Dallas by a gunman upset by the killing of black men by police, Obama says it is unfair to paint all police with the same brush, dpa reported. But he also acknowledges that African Americans face disparities in the criminal justice system and black families too often must worry how their children will be perceived by police. Despite progress in racial relations in recent decades, Obama says there is little comfort for those who are the victims of violence. We "wonder if divides of race in America can ever be bridged," he says.
