King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE) plans to provide 3450 megawatts of electric power in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the use of plants of wind power, solar thermal power, solar photovoltaic energy and energy from waste transformation. This is equivalent to about 4% of the national energy mix and comes within the initiative of the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques for renewable energy that was adopted in the National Transformation Program 2020, and will result in the creation of 7,000 jobs for Saudi citizens and provision of up to 18 million barrels of equivalent fuel. The remarks were made to Saudi Press Agency by President of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Dr. Hashim bin Abdullah Yamani who said that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' renewable energy initiative consists of two parts. The first part is the inclusion of 2300 megawatts of renewable energy in the national energy mix in all regions of the Kingdom, including the replacement of diesel plants while the second part will include 1150 megawatts of renewable energy in the national energy mix, such as: King Salman bin Abdulaziz Initiative of Green Energy in the Madinah region.
