At least 27 people drowned when a large fishing vessel sank on Lake Mai-Ndombe in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a provincial governor said Sunday. The boat, which was carrying more than 100 passengers, was on its way from the town of d'Inongo to Bokoro on Saturday night when it collided with another fishing vessel and capsized, dpa quoted the governor of Mai-Ndombe province, Gentiny Ngobila, as saying in a statement. Visibility had been poor due to thick fog, Ngobila said. The other vessel was not damaged by the accident.
