Search and rescue efforts were ongoing after five US soldiers drowned and four remain missing after their vehicle overturned while crossing a flooded stream in Texas, army officials said Friday. "Yesterday we suffered a tragic accident," Fort Hood commander Major General John Uberti said. "Our priority ... continues to be the search for our four missing teammates." The incident occurred Thursday during a routine training mission as the military vehicle was caught in a flash flood while crossing Owl Creek on the Fort Hood army base. According to dpa, three other soldiers were rescued near the truck and remain in stable condition at a military hospital, Uberti said.
