Al-Watan newspaper confirmed that its website was hacked on Thursday and the hackers put on the website false statements attributed to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. In a statement, Al-Watan explained that the hackers deliberately put false statements attributed to the Crown Prince, which are contrary to the truth and unfounded, stressing that these lies and fabricated statements will not deceive its readers, because the newspaper depends on the Saudi News Agency to obtain the official news. The statement pointed out that Al-Watan's website was hacked early Thursday Sha'ban 26, 1437, corresponding to June 02, 2016 at 9:20 am, by hostile groups from outside the kingdom, and they were able to control the website for a period of time, during which they published fabricated news, including false statement attributed to the Crown Prince about Operation Determination Storm. " The specialists in the newspaper were able to regain control of the website and started carrying out an investigation in coordination with the competent authorities," the statement said. The newspaper stressed that the hacking attempt will enhance its determination to defend the security of the homeland and Saudi citizens and expose the foreign conspiracies that aim to destabilize the security of the Kingdom and the region as a whole.
