Markus Kattner has been dismissed as deputy general secretary of FIFA with immediate effect, football's ruling body said on Monday, according to dpa. "FIFA's Deputy Secretary General Markus Kattner has been dismissed from his position effective immediately. FIFA's internal investigation uncovered breaches of his fiduciary responsibilities in connection with his employment," a statement said. "FIFA will not comment further on any of the details, but will continue its cooperation with the relevant authorities." The Court of Arbitration for Sports said earlier in the month that FIFA knew of the "disloyal payment" of 2 million UEFA president Michel Platini received from FIFA in 2011 which saw Platini and former FIFA boss Joseph Blatter banned. Kattner was FIFA finance director since 2003 and acted as interim general secretary after Jerome Valcke was dismissed last year. New FIFA president Gianni Infantino said at the FIFA congress on May 13 that Senegalese diplomat Fatma Samoura would become the new general secretary from next month onwards.
