Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Turkey are two pivotal countries in the region, stressing that the two countries are seeking to take important steps in the coming weeks to push forward the agreement on the establishment of the Saudi-Turkish Coordination Council which was signed in Istanbul today, in the presence of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In a joint news conference with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu following the signing of the agreement on the establishment of the council, Al-Jubeir expressed his pleasure for signing the agreement, pointing out that this agreement consists of eight main fields: they are the diplomatic policy, security, maritime navigation, industry, energy, agriculture, culture, and military cooperation, as well as security cooperation that already exists. Al-Jubeir explained that the agreement also includes the press and media field, in addition to consular affairs. For his part, the Turkish Foreign Minister said that the stability and security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Turkey is very important for the stability of the region as well. Cavusoglu said that "we will continue our joint efforts to stabilize the region, particularly Syria, Iraq and Yemen." The Turkish Foreign Minister stressed the importance of the Saudi-Turkish Coordination Council to boost the bilateral relations to a higher level, saying that "we will strengthen our relations in the political and diplomatic fields, industry, trade, economy, investment, culture, education, sports, technical defense and military industries, and security cooperation in addition to communications, information, and consular affairs within the framework of this agreement."
