A Brazilian congressional committee voted in favour Monday of advancing impeachment proceedings against President Dilma Rousseff, who is accused of misusing public money by falsifying state accounts, according to dpa. A special committee of the lower house of congress, the Chamber of Deputies, voted 38 to 27 in favour of impeachment. The topic must now be taken up for consideration by all lawmakers in the lower house. A two-thirds supermajority for impeachment - 342 votes in the 513-seat lower chamber - would bring Rousseff's suspension from office for 180 days while the upper house or Senate, decides if she should be removed.
