Volkswagen and its subsidiary Porsche have issued a recall of about 800,000 vehicles due to a possible fault in the pedal area, the companies announced on Thursday, dpa reported. The recall includes Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne models built between 2011 and 2016, which are identical in construction. Some 83,000 vehicles are affected in Germany alone. The companies said the recall was being undertaken because of a "security clip that could be loose on the bearing bracket of the pedals." "The problem was identified during internal examinations and has been corrected in ongoing production," the companies said, adding that the corrective measures would take no longer than 30 minutes.
