The prosecutor's office of the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo says it has subpoenaed former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva as part of an investigation into a suspected money laundering scheme involving an apartment Silva once thought of buying, according to AP. State prosecutor Cassio Conserino's office said Friday that Silva and his wife, Marisa Leticia, will be questioned Feb.17. Earlier this week prosecutors said they were investigating if some of the money from the corruption scandal buffeting state-owned oil company Petrobras was laundered through real estate transactions involving the OAS construction company. OAS constructed the building where Silva considered buying the apartment. Silva has said he and his wife had an option to buy the apartment in the coastal city of Guaruja but never purchased it.
