The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan agreed on making concerted efforts to promote multi-faceted cooperation and working together to fight terrorism and extremism, which is a common enemy of both countries. This came in a statement issued by the Pakistani government in Islamabad today at the conclusion of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir. The statement, according to the official Pakistani news agency, said that during the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the two countries discussed a variety of issues of common interest and the regional situation including the tension between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iran. The statement added that the Foreign Minister met during the visit with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and held delegation-level talks with Advisor to Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, as well as holding a meeting with Chief of Army Staff Gen. Raheel Sharif. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his meeting with Minister Al-Jubeir stressed that Pakistan values with high interest its relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is highly respected among the people of Pakistan. Nawaz Sharif stressed that the people of Pakistan will stand always side by side with the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against any threat to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The statement said that the minister briefed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the details of the Islamic coalition to combat terrorism. Nawaz Sharif welcomed the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing that Pakistan supports all these regional and international efforts to combat terrorism and extremism. Nawaz Sharif called for further strengthening and expansion of bilateral relations between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all areas of cooperation, including defense, security, economic and trade cooperation, as well as to intensify efforts to further enhance bilateral trade and increase Saudi investments in Pakistan, especially in the energy sector where Pakistan provides attractive opportunities for investment. Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir briefed the Pakistani Prime Minister on the ongoing programs to enhance the Saudi investments in vital sectors of the Pakistani economy.
