The number of people applying for asylum in Germany has exceeded 1 million this year, a state minister for social affairs said Tuesday. The total for asylum seekers registered in a computer system that distributes them around the country reached the million mark on Tuesday, after more than 200,000 asylum seekers registered in November alone, Bavarian Minister Emilia Mueller said, according to dpa. The figure eclipsed the 800,000 asylum seekers previously forecast by German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere for 2015. Germany has taken in more asylum seekers than any other EU country.
