The United States condemned the latest deadly suicide bombings and "callous" attacks by Boko Haram extremists in Niger, Nigeria, and Cameroon. "Through these senseless acts of brutality, Boko Haram terrorists are depriving the people of the Lake Chad Basin region of their fundamental right to live in peace and security," the State Department said in a statement late Thursday. "The United States continues to support the governments and people of the Lake Chad Basin region as they confront Boko Haram and the violence it inflicts. We remain committed to their effort through a number of security and counter-terrorism assistance programs" with the governments of Chad, Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, and Benin, the department wrote. "We will also continue to provide critical humanitarian support to those who have been internally displaced or forced to take refuge in neighboring countries because of Boo Haram's senseless acts of terror," the statement said.
