A fire broke out in an as yet unoccupied refugee hostel in the far northern German city of Flensburg, dpa cited police as saying Friday. Nobody was injured in the night-time attack in the city on the Danish border, the police spokesman said, adding that the cause of the blaze and the extent of the damage were not yet clear. It was also not clear if it was an arson attack. A flat on the ground floor of the building was burnt out, but the fire was quickly put out, the spokesman said. The building was initially earmarked for demolition, but was converted into flats to house asylum seekers, who were due to start taking up residence in the coming weeks.
