AlHijjah 26, 1436, October 10, 2015, SPA -- Self-driving cars were involved in nine crashes on California roads in the last year, according to accident reports released by the state's motor vehicle authority Friday, dpa reported. Autonomous vehicles being developed by internet giant Google had eight accidents in Mountain View, California, the Silicon Valley city where the company is headquartered, according to the Department of Motor Vehicles. An autonomous car owned by car tech manufacturer Delphi was also involved in one accident in nearby Palo Alto. The accident reports were redacted to hide the license plate and registration numbers, making it impossible to know if the accidents involved different autonomous cars or if one or more of the vehicles were involved in multiple accidents. In three of the Google incidents, self-driving cars crashed into other cars while both were in motion. In the other six crashes, self-driving vehicles were hit by other cars while stopped in traffic.
