AlHijjah 22, 1436, October 06, 2015, SPA -- Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann on Tuesday visited the Greek island of Lesbos, a main gateway to Europe for refugees and migrants from the Middle East, dpa reported. Faymann, who arrived with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, was expected to discuss assistance for Athens to deal with the influx. Thousands of migrants cross the Aegean from Turkey each week, hoping to reach western Europe. The two leaders were set to discuss the development of so-called hotspots, the first reception and registration centres for refugees on their main points of entry to Europe. Apart from Lesbos, which channels most of the inbound refugees, hotspots are to be established on Chios, Samos, Leros and Kos, the Greek government said. "You will see that this is a European problem," Tsipras told Faymann as they met on the airport, Greek state TV ERT reported.
