AlHijjah 20, 1436, Oct 4, 2015, SPA -- Liverpool sacked Brendan Rodgers on Sunday night, saying the Northern Irishman is leaving the club with immediate effect, dpa reported. The news came after Rodgers' Liverpool side had drawn 1-1 at Everton in the Premier League, a result which left them 10th, six points off the top. Rodgers led Liverpool to second in the Premier League two seasons ago but had been under intense pressure after poor results in 2015. Liverpool said the process to "appoint a new manager is underway" but Germany's Jurgen Klopp is the bookmakers' favourite. In a joint Fenway Sports Group statement, principalwwner John W Henry, chairman Tom Werner and president Mike Gordon said it had been a difficult decision but one they felt they had to take. "We believe it provides us with the best opportunity for success on the pitch," they said. "Ambition and winning are at the heart of what we want to bring to Liverpool and we believe this change gives us the best opportunity to deliver it. "The search for a new manager is underway and we hope to make an appointment in a decisive and timely manner." -- SPA 21:44 LOCAL TIME 18:44 GMT تغريد
