AlHijjah 05, 1436, September 19, 2015, SPA -- The military council that has taken power in Burkina Faso released President Michel Kafando on Friday, the radio station Omega FM reported, after strong international pressure was brought for the release, dpa reported. The junta also released two ministers who were detained with Kafando by the presidential guard on Wednesday, although Kafando was being held under house arrest. The Africa Union suspended the country from all AU activities and imposed sanctions on perpetrators of the coup d'etat "if kidnapped transition authorities are not released immediately."
