AlQa'dah 27, 1436, Sep 11, 2015, SPA -- The Official Spokesman of the Presidency of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet Mosque Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Mansouri said that in the afternoon of today a part of a wench, used in construction works at the Grand Mosque, has fallen due to strong sandstorm, winds and torrential rains. He added that the Presidency and other related authorities have, immediately, tackled the accident and its consequences, resulting in the death of about 87 persons, at the site, while about 184 casualties have been rushed to hospitals. The Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, who is also the Head of Hajj Supreme Committee, as well as Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region, who is also the Head of Hajj Central Committee, are following up the incident and the situation, the spokesman added.
