Lesbos seeks state of emergency as thousands of migrants reach

AlQa'dah 18, 1436, Sep 2, 2015, SPA -- The mayor of Lesbos appealed to the government in
Athens on Wednesday to declare a state of emergency on the island, even as thousands of refugees arrived in mainland Greece from the eastern Aegean islands, dpa reported.
Spyros Galino - in a letter to the central government quoted in the
local press - spoke of a catastrophic hygiene situation, with 10,000
litres of human waste material left daily at the island's port by
migrants waiting to be transported to the mainland.
