A 5.6 magnitude earthquake shook eastern Congo early Friday, causing the death of at least two children, AP quoted government spokesman as saying. Lambert Mende says the epicenter of the earthquake was located close to Lake Tanganyika near Bukavu, the capital of the South Kivu province. He says a house collapsed in Katana, near the airport in Bukavu, causing the death of the children. He said the earthquake also caused some cracks in buildings.
