The United States is considering a plan to train Ukrainian Army soldiers beginning in late November, the commander of U.S. Army forces in Europe said Monday. Lieutenant General Ben Hodges told reporters at the Pentagon that the training would be an extension of current U.S. training of Ukrainian national guardsmen, who operate under the Ministry of the Interior and are not front-line combat forces. According to Hodges, approximately 305 American troops currently are involved in training. The general provided few details of the plan, but indicated that a U.S. decision would have to come soon to meet the November start date.
