The Greek Parliament appears set to agree to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' tough new reform plans, despite a warning from the Germany on Friday that the negotiations on the proposals remained wide open. After months of fraught negotiations between Athens and its creditors, a measure of cautious optimism emerged in European capitals that a deal could be reached with the eurozone's most heavily indebted state, dpa reported. French President Francois Hollande described Athens' package of measures, which includes tax and pension reforms, as "serious and credible." He was speaking ahead of a vote in the Greek Parliament, which is expected to approve Tsipras launching negotiations for a three-year 53.5-billion-euro (59.4-billion-dollar) rescue programme with Europe's bailout fund.
