The Colombian government's chief representative in negotiations with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) warned Sunday that the peace talks may be in danger over continued military action by the Marxist rebel group, according to dpa. "The negotiations are about to come to an end, in success or failure," former vice president Humberto de la Calle told a Colombian newspaper. The latest attacks by guerillas on energy installations had brought the peace process to a low point, he said, saying that the assaults on Colombia's infrastructure could force the government to leave the table in Havana. De la Calle said that progress had been made in the nearly three years of negotiations, and that discussions over the most important points were entering a final stage. If FARC accepts responsibility for its acts of violence, the government would be prepared to enter a bilateral ceasefire ahead of a peace deal, he said.
