Indonesia's Mount Raung in East Java province continued to erupt, emitting grayish plumes up to four kilometers high, an official said Sunday, according to dpa. Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, a spokesman for the National Disaster Mitigation Agency, said the volcano generated a steady but moderate rumble. Mount Raung's status has been upgraded from alert to standby and areas within three kilometers of its crater have been vacated. The volcano is located on the border of East Java's Banyuwangi, Bondowoso and Jember districts. At least 12 international flights by JetStar and Virgin Australia connecting Australia and Indonesian resort island of Bali were cancelled Saturday due to Mount Raung's increased volcanic activity, according to Indonesian news website jpnn.com.
