A severe heatwave killed nearly four dozen peoplein Pakistan, medics and rescue workers said on Sunday, weeks after hot weather left 2,500 dead in neighbouring India, dpa reported today. Over two dozen people died in the southern port city of Karachi in last two days where temperature reached 46 degrees Celsius on Saturday, said doctor Seemin Jamali at Jinnah Hospital. "We have received 26 bodies in two days," Jamali said. "All of themmay have died of heat stroke or exhaustion." Over a dozen people died in other parts of southern Sindh province due to exhaustion, said Meraj Ahmed, a rescue worker at Edhi Foundation charity. The heatwave caused five deaths in the Rahim Yar Khan district ofcentral Punjab province, said doctor Naseer Ahmed of Rescue 1122 Service.
