On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan 1436H, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani, expressed his sincere congratulations to the Ummah. He prayed to Almighty Allah to protect the Muslim World against the aftermaths of discord, fragmentation and disagreement, to accept the fasting and praying of Muslims, and to guide the leaders of the Ummah to promote Islamic solidarity, establish peace and achieve security and prosperity. The OIC Secretary General indicated that these blessed days are a great opportunity to emphasize the values of generosity, self-denial, and fraternity, and exemplify moderation, tolerance and coexistence among all people. Madani lamented that the month of pardoning and forgiveness comes while some regions of the Muslim world are still afflicted by wars, strife, unrest and humanitarian crises. He appealed to the OIC Member States and the humanitarian organizations in the Muslim world in particular and international organizations in general, to urgently provide humanitarian assistance to the poor families and the needy in the Muslim world, especially those in crisis regions. Madani drew attention to the continued suffering of some Muslim minorities, and called on Muslims to take advantage of the multiplied reward in this month of giving and help their brothers who are displaced because of war and strife. He appealed to every true Muslim, especially the youth who are the hope for a promising future where security, reform, good governance and upholding of human rights and dignity prevails, to respect the sanctity of this blessed month, and not be persuaded by the terrorist groups that adopt violent means to achieve their notorious objectives in the name of Islam which is innocent of their criminal deeds, and not give the chance to those who seek to dismantle Islam from within by the hands of its followers. The Secretary General concluded his statement by inviting every Muslim to confirm through his behavior, morals and actions, that Muslims are really moderate Ummah, that the Muslim community is a model of peace, serenity, and construction, and that Islam is the final message that embodies the humanity of all mankind.
