The United Nations said Friday that 1.6 billion dollars is needed this year for aid in Yemen, as a UN envoy is racing against time to broker a truce between the exiled government and Houthi rebels, dpa reported. Aid agencies need 1.6 billion dollars for food, water, sanitation and healthcare this year, said UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Stephen O'Brien, of which less than 200 million has come in. Donor countries should bridge the shortfall of more than 1.4 billion dollars, the UN urged.
