The Indian army destroyed rebel camps in Myanmar days after 18 soldiers were killed in an ambush in north-eastern India, dpa cited officials and reports as saying Wednesday. The army said it "inflicted significant casualties" during the operation on Tuesday. "We are confirming that Indian armed forces, the special forces, crossed over into Myanmar and carried out strikes on two militant camps, annihilating the entire camps, and they have returned back safely," junior information minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore told broadcaster NDTV.
