Published in Saudi Press Agency on 03 - 06 - 2015

The Security Spokesman of the Ministry of Interior said in a statement today that "Further to the announcement on Friday 11/08/1436H regarding the foiled attempt to commit a terrorist crime targeting worshipers in Al-Hussein Mosque (may Allah be bless his soul) at Al-Anoud Neighborhood in Dammam, during Friday prayer, that the attempt was carried out by an individual wearing female clothes which drew the attention of security men and incensed some citizen worshippers. They prevented the perpetrator from entering the mosque. He, however, using an explosive belt, blew himself up in the parking lot in front of the mosque's entrance. As result, the individual was killed, and four citizens were martyred (may Allah bless their souls).
Investigations of this terrorist act have revealed the following:
First, the perpetrator of the terrorist sinful crime at Al-Hussein Mosque (may Allah be pleased with him) in Al-Anoud Neighborhood in Dammam, has been identified as Khalid Ayed Mohammed Al-Wahabi Al-Shammari (Saudi national), born on 29/06/1416H. The forensic lab proved that samples from the remains of the terrorist's body as well as the scene showed that RDX was used in the bombing.
Second, the victims of the terrorist incident were identified as:
Abduljalil Juma Tahir Al-Arbash,
Mohammed Juma Tahir Al-Arbash,
Hadi Salman Isa Al-Hashem, and
Mohammed Hassan Ali Al-Essa.
Their courageous response as well as their sacrifice of their own lives and blood have struck an example that the citizen is the first security man. Therefore, and in recognition of their sacrifice, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques directed that they be treated as martyrs of duty and be granted the Order of Courage. We pray to Allah to bless their souls.
The circumstances and threads of this heinous crime, which has heeded neither the sanctity of blood nor that of place, are still under security follow-up.
